| Based
on information extrapolated from the family tree, Gael
Connexions will identify sites
connected to the family before that family goes on their own
genealogy trail, back in time.

G.C. will hunt out the churchyards, ruined
croft-houses and castles and make sure of the connection with
the familys' ancestors, then establish if access is possible.
Then, a plan will
be worked out for each individual or family group to travel
where "X" marks the spots. This plan will involve
recommended types of transport, e.g., ferries, hired car or
trains. A route will be prepared along the trail, utilising
the Scottish Tourist Board members in each area, suitable
accommodation will be booked ahead to ensure food & rest,
hopefully within easy travelling distance of each identified
site.
|
Every
effort will be made to guide the traveller to local museums,
local family history centres etc., especially if the family
is connected to a particular clan. There are many Clan Centres
throughout Scotland now, for example, The Clan Cameron Centre
in Lochaber.
Having directed a person or family
in the right trail, some may feel that this adventure could
be overwhelming to do on their own. Gael Connexions can help
here, if not already booked up, I can be hired as driver/guide
on a day to day basis.
Family groups of up to ten would be
the maximum. But would be happy to drive for one! Local knowledge
of roads will be invaluable. It also gives the opportunity
to enjoy our magnificent scenery, and Colin G of Gael Connexions
has a vast knowledge of local, Scottish & Clan histories
to entertain you on the way.
"Virtual Visits"
If
you have read my web-site, and for some reason, you can't
come to visit the special spot connected to your ancestors,
maybe you can ... with today's technology!!!
I am willing to find that special spot,
photograph it with my digital camera and down-load to your
PC.
From the comfort of your home
you may be able to travel thousands of miles to a lonely glen,
to a ruin or grave-site that means something special to you
and your family.
A new addition to Gael Connexions
Family History Service.
